Recital update
My apologies for not blogging; I haven't been in the mood. However, I do owe people a recital report. I was hoping to have a picture to post with it but Beckett School hasn't sent me the picture they took of me. The adult recital was done cabaret style, with people sitting at candle-lit tables and supplied with wine and cheese (although I took Peter's advice and didn't have wine until after my performance). The audience was mostly composed of the students and the atmosphere was very informal and friendly. They compiled the play list in terms of difficultly and I was second-last on the list! Luckily the person before me was a vocalist and he sang "Bring him home" from Les Miserables. I was able to close my eyes and calm down a bit before playing. I was very pleased with my performance. Despite a left leg that was shaking so hard I thought it would fall off, I played really well and I only grimaced once. When playing piano as a child, I played at least 2 recitals per year and competed in the Kiwanis Festival. This performance was better than all of those other ones. I think I was better prepared! It was nice to be in a recital that included singers, violinists, guitarists and pianists. Overall it was a good experience despite the nerves.
